I was able to find some of my great-grandfather's medical papers online and able to buy the book in which they are contained. It will be nice to have that of his. I know there are a few others too, but I need to look again for them. I like that I was able to find them in a book and also have a small notebook of his too. I think he and Dr. Treves were contemporaries. I saw somewhere that some called my great-grandfather "the cancer doctor."
I heard on a history program that Princess Alice, of the British Royal family, in Queen Victoria's time, was a patron, so-to-speak, of Joseph Merrick and he said that she made him feel like a normal human being. That made me tear up. I love to hear about stories of kindness and compassion.
