The second most dangerous time to be involved with a narcissist is when the partner decides to move on. This is especially true if the narcissist was not the one to end the relationship. The narcissist is often filled with self loathing, has deep seated insecurities, and are easily enraged. They also feel entitled to get their way, are often angry when they don’t, and have a deep seated need to stay in control at any cost.
They hate to see people happy because they are so unhappy themselves. I would expect them to lash out and attempt to thwart your goals by any means necessary. This becomes especially ugly if children are involved because they often will use them as a weapon to maintain control. They are full of rage and very vindictive, so expect the unexpected and do what you can to protect yourself.
