ISTIMMC

I saw this and it made me cry. I do miss you so much the pain is almost too much to take.

Bobby McGee:

It’s about the paradox of love and freedom. For the song’s protagonist, freedom was a double-edged sword. On the one hand, she is free of entanglements as the song begins, traveling around the country with her lover, Bobby McGee. On the other hand, after she lets him slip away, she realizes that “freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose”. She is still free of entanglements - more free, in fact, since their love affair has ended - yet she would prefer less freedom if she could have him again: “I’d give all my tomorrows for a single yesterday, holding Bobby’s body close to mine.”
