I read that lipedema is nearly exclusively a woman's disease; so I am thinking a component of a lump could be estrogen and ? Could they possibly be mistaking it for cancer? I was thinking maybe a biopsy should be taken of one that is not near the breast and see if it comes up with the same reading as being cancerous too? The biopsy process is not fun, but I would be willing to do it to get information. The med I am taking right now is actually helping to reduce the size of the lipedema lumps and some have actually disappeared! I think there could end up being a kind of "formula" worked out so that the med is taken full force to make the lumps disappear, then figure out a way to keep them gone, but allowing women to have some form of natural hormone replacement that does not bring them back. It would be an interesting experiment. I read also that lipedema is underdiagnosed. I have been brushed off by many doctors just from physical judging, "Lose weight you'll feel better." Some would not even come into the exam room. They would just say that and walk away. It is very hurtful. The stigma of weight needs to be removed, because, one way, or another there is a cause; it could be a psychological reason, or medical physically, but either way, women (and men) with weight issues deserve better treatment. I think an entire clinic could be devoted to weight matters and their cause, not just a "one size fits all" kind of weight loss plan. It could be listed as an insurance covered medical issue. It is preventative, or could help remedy some health harming diseases like diabetes, heart attacks, strokes, etc. It would save insurance companies money down the line. "An ounce of prevention...."
